One early morning in mid-May, I awoke with a sharp pain in my right shoulder and my arm contorted in a strange position above my head. I have no idea how my arm got in that position, but, regardless, it resulted in an injury that culminated with rotator cuff surgery last Thursday. I’m in a sling for the next six weeks, and, depending on physical therapy and how well I behave myself, I should have full use of my arm again sometime within 6-8 months. That’s a long time, but considering I haven’t been able to raise my arm above the horizontal since last May, it’s good to have an end point in sight.
